Gemmotherapy:

A relative new ( 1920,Belgian dr. Henry) therapy (but rediscovered since buds have been used for their medicinal properties for a long time before) using fresh embryonic tissue (buds, shoots).
“gemmo” from the latin “gemma” stands for bud/germ part of seed.
It targets especially on the immune system by influencing/regulating the immune globulins .

​Recipe:
gemmo- extracts or “gemmos” are always made from fresh plant material either buds ,young shoots or even young roots . Plant species are mainly woody species. Extraction solvent consists of equal (w/w) parts of ethanol 96% en glycerol. A 1:20 macerate is made based on the calculated dry matter of the fresh plant material. The result is the undiluted gemmo (GO). This or the “gemmo 1D”which is a 10 times diluted extract are used in gemmo-therapy. 

​Dry Matter:
“Residue after evaporation”. 
40 - 55%, mainly due to the glycerol content.  Dry matter measurement of gemmos is not as relevant as for tinctures.

​End alc.:
Ethanol content of the gemmo (calculated in volume ethanol100%/total volume extract) is around 45-55% depending on water content of the plant material. Ethanol content is chosen for optimal extraction of the plant part used.

Specific mass:
Min. and maximum specific weight.
Around 1.000, mainly influenced by the glycerol content.

Woody species take time to get into production since establishment in 2010.
